Long ago, the world of Edenei was a very different place. The lands were filled with flourishing life and activity, powered by a mythical race of humans. Their law was divided and controlled by four Deities, who had divine powers, intelligence and judgment. Above these Deities where what the people called Sovereigns, two powerful beings that were considered a legend by most.
Of the Deities, Adair reigned over the North lands, famous for his strength of will and honesty. Varda reigned over the East lands, famous for her beauty and tomboyish nature. Dracoris reigned over the West lands, famous for his fiery attitude and powerful magic. Zarek reigned over the South lands, famous for his loyalty and courage. Each Deity had followers, the followers settling in their chosen Deity's lands and pledging their alliance to the Deity by doing so. Each Deity, in turn, would follow one of the two Sovereigns, Faroth or Xanadu, pleding their alliance to one or the other for almost religious purposes. One day, something changed. Whispers were told that one of the Sovereigns, Faroth, tempted Dracoris with power. He had begun to get power hungry and murderous, ordering his most trusted followers to assassinate the other Deities' followers whenever possible. Though, his change of heart did not go unnoticed, and he payed a hefty price. Asiri, one of Dracoris' closest followers betrayed him, informing each Deity respectively of his corrupt, malicious plans. This called for drastic action, and, grouping together, the three Deities, Adair, Varda and Zarek brought Dracoris down from power, banishing him from Edenei for one hundred years. However, he didn't go down without a fight, and with his banishment, Dracoris laid a powerful curse on the whole population. The curse changed them all into wolves (himself included), brainwashing the Deities along the way. This curse also locked up both Sovereigns, destroying their power and damning them to a dark void. Centuries have passed from those events and they now lay in history, dusty, old and forgotten. The landscape has been molded to change, the only standing relic of the past a mysterious temple. Now there is a whole new population, oblivious to who their ancestors once were, and to the Deities who are slowly making a comeback. What will become of the wolves of Edenei and the ancient curse? Has time weakened its lethal bonds, or has the return of Dracoris only strengthened its impact? | ||||||||||
